I’ll be in the process of taking my written test next Friday to obtain my CLP, the only thing that I don’t know is if I need to get a DOT medical card before taking the written test to obtain my commercial drivers permit.

Each state has different guidelines for obtaining a cdl. You will need to check with your local DLD for guidance.
